The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has issued new guidance regarding the reporting of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) procedures. The purpose of the guidance is to provide licensees with a clear description of the expected requirements and procedures associated with submitting monthly ADR reports using the licensee portal.
Under Part V of the ADR Directive (Directive 5 of 2018), B2C licensees are required to report to the Authority each dispute that has been referred to an ADR entity and the termination of such a dispute following a decision by the ADR entity. In this regard, a new report has been created called the ADR Report, which can be accessed in the Company Timeline section of the licensee portal, says MGA .
This reporting requirement goes into effect this month. Accordingly, the first submission must be made no later than June 20, 2024, in which licensees must report disputes that were referred to their respective approved ADR service provider in the previous month.
At the end of May, the MGA revoked operator Tipbet's permission to operate in its jurisdiction. Once the authorization is revoked, the operator can no longer operate its betting platforms in Malta. The Company must immediately suspend all gaming operations and new customer registrations. In addition, the operator is obliged to return to each player all funds in his account in accordance with the Gambling Law (Cap. 583 of the Laws of Malta).
Earlier this year, the Maltese regulator revoked the licenses of BTM Entertainment and Rush Gaming . As with BTM Entertainment , Rush Gaming had its permit suspended, leading to the subsequent revocation of its MGA license.
Earlier this year, the MGA also revoked the B2C license of Winners Malta Operations Ltd., with effect from 11 January 2024. The reasons for these measures were not fully disclosed, but emphasis was placed on the importance of complying with regulatory obligations. This rigorous approach underscores the MGA's unwavering commitment to maintaining transparency and trust in the Malta gaming industry.
