Gregory Hawkins appointed acting COO of Bloomberry Resorts

Bloomberry Resorts Corporation has announced Gregory Francis Hawkins as the acting Chief Operating Officer (COO). Hawkins, who has been managing Solaire Resort North in Quezon City, will now oversee operations at Solaire Entertainment City in Parañaque City.

This leadership transition follows the retirement of Thomas Arasi, who held the dual role of President and COO since 2013. Last week, Bloomberry also shared that Arasi stepped down from his positions on the board and various company subsidiaries. During Arasi’s tenure, he oversaw the launch of Solaire Resort North in Quezon City and played a key role in driving the company’s growth in gaming and hospitality.

Hawkins’ appointment comes as the company reported a 58 percent decline in net income for the first nine months of 2024, dropping to PHP3.5 billion (€56.45 million) from PHP8.3 billion (€133.8 million) in the same period last year. Despite these setbacks, the company saw a 22 percent year-on-year rise in Philippine gaming revenues for the third quarter.

Hawkins’ industry expertise

Hawkins has decades of experience in the gaming and hospitality industry. His career includes leadership roles at globally recognised organisations, such as Star Entertainment, Crown Melbourne, and City of Dreams Macau.

Impact on Solaire operations

Hawkins’ appointment aims to maintain operational continuity and uphold Solaire’s reputation as a premier integrated resort brand. His leadership at Solaire North, which opened mid-year, has already contributed to the property’s growth and success. As he now takes charge of both Solaire Entertainment City and Solaire North, Bloomberry expects to strengthen its presence in the Philippine gaming and hospitality sector.

Stock market update and rewards programme

In related developments, Bloomberry disclosed to the Philippine Stock Excahnge (PSE) a sale of 250,000 shares at PHP4.57 each through the stock market. These shares will be distributed as part of a rewards programme for loyal patrons of Solaire. The initiative forms part of the company’s marketing strategy, reinforcing customer engagement and brand loyalty.

A strategic move amid industry growth

This leadership change comes as the Philippine gaming and hospitality sector continues to expand. With Hawkins’ appointment, Bloomberry said it aims to build on its established position in the market and support its growth ambitions. The company’s integrated resorts, Solaire Entertainment City and Solaire North, remain key players in catering to domestic and international guests, reinforcing the brand’s industry leadership.
