Habanero Systems has received approval from the Hellenic Gaming Commission (HGC) to operate in Greece, marking an important milestone for the established casino games provider. The move is part of Habanero’s strategic expansion into regulated European markets, and will be used to introduce its wide-ranging portfolio to Greek players from 2025.
The licensing by the Greek regulator is the latest attempt by Habanero to break into the European gaming market, hard on the heels of its recent entry into Brazil and Peru.
On securing the licence, Arcangelo Lonoce, Head of Business Development at Habanero, said, “Getting our Greek licence is another exciting milestone for us as we look to expand our reach into this vibrant market in 2025. Following our Brazil licence, this is another great moment for us as we look to get the year off to a strong start and keep building on it.”
The iGaming market in Greece is expected to grow to nearly $1.9 billion by 2029. This makes it a sector of fast development, powered by increased demand from consumers and a regulatory framework supportive of both fair play and responsible gaming.
The Greek government’s attempt to regulate online gambling has created a more structured market that encourages competition among licensed operators and suppliers whilst bringing transparency and accountability to the industry.
Habanero is known for supplying its operators with a diverse games portfolio that combines visually appealing slots with engaging themes and game mechanics. Along with more classic table games, Habanero will be introducing these slots to the Greek market, providing entertainment that appeals to both casual gamblers and professional players. Titles such as Hyper Hues, Hot Hot Fruit, Mystic Fortune Deluxe and Zeus Deluxe are among those licensed for distribution.
This new market entry fits with the broader strategy of Habanero to expand its European footprint and places the company in a good position for future success as it continues to work its way through the complexities of the various regulatory environments.
Obtaining the Greek gaming license represents an important milestone in Habanero’s journey to cement itself as a main player in the European online gaming market. Boasting a high portfolio of games and a solid regulatory compliance track record, Habanero is all set to make a name for itself in Greece’s rapidly growing online casino space.
