Wynn Resorts to open two gaming areas at UAE’s first casino resort, report says

Wynn Resorts has confirmed it will operate two gaming areas at its upcoming integrated resort in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE. Online media Skift reported that a Wynn VP said the main casino will span 224,000 square feet, making it larger than the casino at Wynn Las Vegas. A second gaming space, described as a “sky gaming” area, will be on the resort’s 22nd floor.

There was initial speculation about the possibility of a third gaming space at Wynn Al Marjan Island, but the company later clarified that no additional gaming areas are planned. Instead, the resort will feature a private upper-floor gaming space, known as a salon privé, a feature commonly found in integrated resorts.

Expanding entertainment and hospitality offerings

Beyond gaming, the Wynn Al Marjan aims to position itself as a top-tier entertainment destination. It will feature over 1,500 rooms, 22 restaurants and lounges, a beach club, a nightclub, and a 900-seat theatre for live performances. Wynn Resorts announced earlier that it has partnered with celebrity chefs to enhance its dining experiences.

The resort will be built on Al Marjan Island, a man-made cluster of four islands in the UAE. It will include a private beach, a marina, and retail and conference facilities. The development represents a major step in expanding the UAE’s tourism and hospitality sector.

Wynn’s position in UAE gaming

Wynn Resorts is currently the only company holding a casino license from the UAE’s General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA). CEO Craig Billings has stated that he expects Wynn to be the sole gaming provider in the UAE for several years.

The UAE has limited the number of gaming licences, with a maximum of one land-based casino per emirate. While MGM Resorts is planning a gaming facility in Abu Dhabi, Wynn’s Ras Al Khaimah project is expected to be the first to open, giving it a lead in the market.

Economic and employment impact

The $5.1 billion Wynn Al Marjan Island project is the largest foreign direct investment in Ras Al Khaimah’s hospitality sector. It is expected to create 7,500 jobs upon opening, contributing to local employment and economic growth.

Wynn Resorts is anticipating strong revenue from both gaming and non-gaming operations. The resort’s layout will allow visitors to explore its amenities without needing to enter the gaming areas, making it appealing to a wide range of guests.
