Ukraine is taking a significant step forward in building a culture of responsible gambling. For the first time, the government, business sector, and civil society are joining forces to implement proven European practices in preventing gambling addiction — in a systematic, transparent, and results-oriented way.
The NGO Responsible Gaming Center has launched an ambitious international knowledge exchange initiative. This unique program for Ukraine includes study visits by Ukrainian experts to European countries. Participants — including healthcare professionals, regulators, and civil society representatives — will learn how public policies, self-exclusion technologies, rehabilitation programs, and support institutions function across the EU to effectively assist those struggling with gambling-related harm.
This is the most comprehensive and consistent approach the country has taken to date. The goal goes beyond information sharing — it marks the beginning of structural change: revising legal frameworks, launching training programs for professionals, and aligning Ukrainian legislation with European standards.
The general partner of this national initiative to implement social services for individuals at risk of gambling addiction is FAVBET. In 2024, under the project’s umbrella, a national standard for the social support of people with gambling problems was approved, and a specialized center for psychosocial support — Life Space — was opened.
“For the first time, Ukraine’s gambling industry is developing infrastructure that doesn’t ignore the issue but addresses it with practical solutions. From awareness campaigns and psychological support to regulatory reform, this long-term strategy is creating a sustainable system for preventing gambling addiction in Ukraine,” FAVBET stated.
