Crypto casino Playbet.io has announced British rapper Dizzee Rascal as the company’s new brand ambassador.
The partnership was brokered with the help of Nick Hunter of sports marketing agency P11 Group.
Miguel Almeida, Chief Marketing Officer of Playbet, commented: “We’re thrilled to announce our partnership with one of the most legendary names in the music industry, Dizzee Rascal.
“A true icon of success, Dizzee has captivated millions of fans worldwide, and we’re proud to welcome him as the newest ambassador for Playbet.io. This collaboration marks an exciting chapter for us, and we’re confident it’s going to be a hit.”
Since its launch in 2024 and first venture into the online crypto gambling space, Playbet has expanded its online casino and sportsbook offering to now include slots, live dealer games, as well as coverage of major sports and esports events.
In an obvious push to tap into a growing tech-savvy audience, the partnership with Dizzee Rascal will help Playbet enhance its marketing efforts through exclusive branded content and a number of live streams featuring the British rapper.
Speaking on his latest collaboration, the musician added: “I’m excited to partner up with Playbet and be a part of this groundbreaking experience. I love to be a part of anything innovative and Playbet are doing big things globally, as am I. Let the games begin!”
While the partnership is bound to attract the attention of London-born Rascal’s international fanbase, it will most certainly have limited to no effect on the UK market due to strict regulations by the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC).
Neither it nor its parent company Bitx Operations currently hold a UKGC licence. The registered legal address and operational licence is with the nation of Curaçao.
This means that the crypto casino is not compliant with the high-level of player safety standards that UKGC licence holders are required to adopt.
Licensing aside, the sheer use of cryptocurrencies as payments for gambling in the UK is a legal grey area – with the UKGC advising customers to avoid playing with offshore gambling sites with crypto support.
While there are discussions currently being held in the UK about how to better regulate crypto payments and products, as of now there are significant implications about heightened AML risks due to the anonymous nature of the crypto market.
Therefore, all UKGC-licensed online casinos generally stay away from offering crypto payments in order to avoid regulatory risks.
